Located inside of an old fruit cannery in Hood River, Full Sail Brewing’s tasting room is a great place to drink their amazing beer on tap and catch great views of sunset on the Columbia River.
About Full Sail Brewery
When the owners of Full Sail Brewing first laid eyes on an abandoned, pigeon-infested fruit cannery building in Hood River, Oregon, it was hard to imagine that they could successfully turn it into the brewery of their imaginations. Seemingly frozen in time, the building, which had been abandoned 15 years prior, was dirty, smelly, and full of old knickknacks from the late 1960s.
With the kind of hope and luck reserved only for beginners, the owners of Full Sail Brewing put their deposit down and immediately got to work. Much of the first two years were spent borrowing money and building equipment, but the owners never lost sight of their vision. Determined to create something beautiful and fulfilling, the new owners worked night and day to transform the haunted pigeon cannery into the romantic brewery of their dreams.
Now, almost 30 years later, it’s safe to say that those romantic dreams have been realized. With a gorgeous tasting room that features views of the Columbia River, an insanely successful microbrewery business, and hundreds of beer awards to boot, Full Sail Brewery is the real deal.
About the Beers
Brewed as true beers for the people, Full Sail Brewing has always made beers to please their drinkers. Although they are honored to have received over 300 awards for their beers, Full Sail Brewery insist that these are just a byproduct of their commitment to their customers.
The beers at Full Sail Brewing can be described as balanced, complex, and elegant. Since you’re probably wondering, the most awarded beers at Full Sail Brewing are the Full Sail Amber Ale, Full Sail Classic IPA, Session Premium Lager, and the Session Dark Black Lager.
Try some of our favorites too, like the Full Sail Atomizer IPA, or maybe the Full Sail Cold Brew Coffee Amber Ale, which is a great pick-me-up on a long day of vacation activities. Full Sail Brewery is on an everlasting mission to craft something new, so you’re bound to find a new favorite, and when you do, think about buying a pack to go and taking it home with you as a souvenir! It might be the Atomizer Jet Pack with its top-secret infusion methods used to make 4 brand new brews including Atomizer IPA, Atomizer Pale, Atomizer Amber, Atomizer Lager. Or it might be the unique Session Beers where you find your new favorite. These beers defy categorization, and include Session Premium Lager, Sesión Cerveza, the Session Light, Session EZ IPA, Session Hefeweizen Wheat, and Session Pilsner. With all these mouth-watering options, you’ll have trouble choosing. But don’t fill up on beer alone; make sure to save some room for some of the delicious food they serve here too.
About the Food
You’re going to want some stellar food to go along with your award-winning beer. The food here is always top notch, cooked and served with as much love as the beer here is brewed. Start off with some Pretzel Bread Sticks to share—a great way to whet the appetite—or maybe a Bucket of Truffle Fries. If you like your sandwiches hefty and filling, the Chicken Caprese is for you, with its grilled chicken breast, fresh veggies and basil, and roasted garlic aioli. Seafood is always a great option in Hood River too, so think about trying the Salmon Fish and Chips—a pub favorite.
Each item on the menu here comes with a suggestion for a beer pairing, which really speaks to how passionate they are about their craft. Make sure to pay attention to that! Visiting Full Sail Brewery
Since Full Sail Brewing Company‘s brewery and brewpub are under the same roof, they offer both beer tasting and tours of the brewery. Tours are available free of charge Monday through Friday at 4:00 PM, and Saturday at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Brewery tours are currently limited to weekends only but are free of charge! We highly recommend getting on one of the brewery tours of their space. On the tour, visitors learn about Full Sail Brewing’s history, about their award-winning beers, and maybe even meet a few members from the production team. All in all, the tour only takes about 30 minutes, and afterward, you’ll be all pumped up to try some of that lovingly crafted beer and food.
