Dog Friendly Hood River Activities

Millions of people every single year make the journey to the great northwest of the United States to experience some of the most incredible outdoor scenery and hiking in all of North America, but if you’re like us, you love experiencing the great outdoors with your furry friend by your side! Luckily for you, the Hood River area is one of the most dog friendly areas you’ll find anywhere. Here are three dog friendly Hood River activities to check out the next time you stay here.

Go for a Hike on the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail

The Hood River area is well known to both locals and tourists alike for its incredible weather and absolutely breathtaking wildlife, and this means that there is no shortage of opportunities available to get outdoors and experience some of the best hiking the great northwest has to offer! Luckily, there is no shortage of dog friendly Hood River activities and trails and there are arguable none more popular or better than the Historic Columbia River High Way State Trail. Dogs are required to be on a 6’ leash and in control at all times, but they are more than welcome to join you on all of the multi-purpose trails available! There are over 13 miles of trails to explore (and sniff), so you’ll both have plenty of ground to cover!

Visit the Beautiful Columbia River Gorge

Another one of the incredible sights that you can check out in Hood River that is pup friendly is the Columbia River Gorge, a spectacular canyon where the Columbia River cuts through the Cascade Mountains. Many of the trails in this area are pet friendly, and if you make the journey, you’ll be rewarded with some of the most spectacular views anywhere in Oregon!

Visit the Pine Street Bakery for Some Treats!

If you’re like us, you’re probably hesitant to bring your furry friend on vacation with you because you don’t want to feel like you can’t bring him anywhere. There’s nothing worse than bringing your dog along with you, only to leave them trapped in the hotel room anytime you want to go out to eat. Thankfully, the town has a number of Hood River activities and incredible establishments that are dog friendly, so you won’t have to worry about leaving your pup behind! One of the most well-known places around is the Pine Street Bakery in The Heights neighborhood, a locally owned bakery with a number of different dog friendly amenities, such as outdoor seating and fresh baked treats.
