Hood River Attractions in the Winter

Hood River in the wintertime is a sight to behold. You’ll spend much of your time here in the city, and participating in the best winter activities, such as skiing (one of our favorite pastimes here). But one of the greatest Hood River attractions is the landscape itself, so you’ll want to devote some time to sightseeing while you’re here!

Multnomah Falls

The Columbia River Gorge is perhaps one of the most scenic areas in the entire northeast. It’s home to over 75 waterfalls, and one of the grandest and most beautiful waterfalls of all is our beloved Multnomah Falls. In summer, you’ll find this area rich and lush with wildlife. In winter you’ll find it transformed into a winter scene worthy of postcards and paintings. There’s nothing more lovely than fresh winter snow and the sparkle of sunlight off frozen water, and nothing more magical than a waterfall fighting against the cold. Whether it’s frozen into icicles or there’s still a valiant rush of water flowing through, the view is always changing and always one-of-a-kind.

Historic Columbia River Highway Scenic Byway

Highways are usually just a tool to get you from point A to point B on a journey, but not this one. Historic Columbia River Highway Scenic Byway is a sightseeing adventure all its own. This is one of the best ways to see some of the most beautiful sights that Hood River has to offer. You’ll get to pass through the little town of Troutdale and over the Sandy River, where Lewis and Clarke once passed through. Stop at Crown Point and enjoy the unrivaled view from the lofty vantage point. See waterfalls, cliffs, Bonneville Dam, and so much more. Pack along snacks, drinks, and lunches and make whole a day of it!

Mount Hood

Wherever you are in Hood River, the best view of all will always be the majestic snowcap of Mount Hood that we’re most well known for. You always know where you are in Hood River because of that beautiful sight. Make some time to head up the mountain itself and enjoy the sights up close. Take a hike, pack a picnic, or get involved with winter activities such as skiing, snowboarding, or sledding.
