From food carts to fine dining, Hood River has quite an array of yummy eats. Fun food carts have been popping up over the past few years and no one is complaining given the delights they serve. From Four and Twenty Blackbirds to Taqueria El Cuate (the Red Cart parked across the library) offering the best burgers to The Local Grind down at the waterfront, you are sure to score a fantastic fast feast!
Have a little more time on your hands and want to sit down and enjoy your dish with view? Check out 6th Street Bistro, 3 Rivers Grill or Full Sail Brewery. Behold the mighty Columbia while enjoying delicious locally sourced Hood River dining fare. (Many of these spectacular restaurants offer mid-week deals during the off peak season!)
If you are spending the day on the river, you don’t need to travel far to sit back relax and enjoy the best pizza around. Solstice is a favorite for parents with littles in tow. This place caters to all ages to make sure everyone has a great time and no fries are being flung! My personal favorite sweet treat in the summertime is a just a few steps away at Cicci’s Gelato: Chocolate with Oregon hazelnuts -gelato made locally in Mosier – delicioso!
For the most important meal of the day, Hood River does breakfast right. Bette’s on Oak Street boasts a bountiful menu full of goodies to satisfy all taste buds–from fresh gigantic cinnamon buns to a perfectly poached egg to a Dungeness crab omelet! Or grab a little bite to eat at Kickstand while your bike is prepped next door for a ride on the epic trails in Hood River! Also at the bottom of “hospital hill” or 13th Street is another long time fave, Egg River Cafe.
Nightlife in Hood River
What’s a vacation destination town without a great spot to head out for a good night of fun – we rely on Double Mountain Brewery for this. Always good cheer and good beer! Newish to town is Camp 1805 with killer cocktails and a beautiful space to relax, you will be sure to end your day on a win!
Here are also a few favorites in The Heights of Hood River: Pine Street Bakery is a must do while you are in town for excellent espresso drinks, fresh baked bread, pastries and tasty lunches. Also in The Heights is the locals’ favorite Mexican restaurant La Taqueria. This family owned spot is hoppin’ in the summer, often with a live Mariachi band and lots of good vibes! And while we are on a kick of the insider’s tip of where to go off the beaten path of downtown dining- be sure to spend some time at Good News Gardening ~ awesome for open air eating for both breakfast and lunch. This is a no fail spot to bring your mom. Even your mother-in-law will find the good in Good News Gardening!
